Top 10 Life Insurance Companies in the Philippines
By Randell Tiongson on May 15th, 2011Who are the top Life Insurance Companies in the country? The Insurance Commission releases the list of the top insurers albeit late. The latest figures show the numbers of 2009. The ranking is according to total premiums registered.
There are many other areas one should consider when choosing an insurer other than its ranking such as claims experience, customer service, charges, etc. Further, chose a life insurance intermediary (agent, broker, adviser) who will take time to educate you in the rudiments of risk management and not just push a product.
Top Top 10 Life Insurance Companies in the Philippines |

I believed AXA Philippines will soon surpass PHILAMLIFE and the other insurance companies like SUNLIFE. AXA is worldwide the No. 1 insurance companies both in life and non-life insurance, investment products. It has a bank AXA Bank that could not open a branch here in the Philippines because AXA Philippines is in partner with Metro Bank.
AXA Group is even bigger than MetroBank Group.
It should be noted that the ranking is just based on the premiums collected. I crossed the line, AXA is just 13 years in the Philippines, it ranked number 4. But when it comes to unit-linked products, AXA is number 1… having 40% market share…Let us cross the line..
Ms. Hannia, try also to seek the advice of an AXA Financial Advisor. Then compare the same with the other companies you are eyeing to invest your money in. AXA has 4 billion euros in underlying assets, and has active presence in 57 countries across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. It has 101 million clients already. I am Nestor SInlao, a licensed Axa Advisor. Have you any question about AXA? here are my digits, 0905-428-9880.
THis is Nestor SInlao, a Licensed AXA advisor, I am a teacher and a graduating law student. Should anyone have questions about AXA, please feel free to contact me.. 0905-428-9880

The problem with huge financial institutions is that when the parent company is in trouble, the Philippine affiliate is left behind. Look what happened to several huge international companies that just left the country. Please understand that Europe is now encountering many financial problems…and the RATINGS of many European countries were downgraded. Maybe its better to invest your money in a Philippine Insurance company that make use of our funds to revitalize the local economy. Please compare to discover that the premium of Philippine Insurers is much cheaper because of inexpensive loading…NO HUGE SALARIES & PERKS FOR EXPATS, NO MANAGEMENT FEES & ROYALTIES, ETC. and you will be helping a Phippine-rooted company to grow internationally! As an example, you can buy twice the coverage for a similar premium for an education program of a local 50-year company compared to a very huge European Insurer.
Philam Life is still the largest and most trusted life insurance company in the Phililppines.
We rank first among 4 key metrics such; Paid-up capital, networth, investment, and assets. Philam Life is the no. 1 in the market industry for over 60 years.

Hi everyone! I’m Astrid from Sun Life Financial
Just dropping by to help answering some questions here to the best of my knowledge.
Dexsie Magsy – I have tried offering term insurance before as collateral when I am trying to get a loan, unfortunately banks only accept term insurance for MRI or mortgage redemption insurance, they only accept life insurance with cash value or in other terms permanent insurance as collateral because the policy itself has real value and not just in the event of death.
John Mary – Irrevocable beneficiaries are considered part owner of the policy so they are not subject to estate tax, every change or withdrawal from policy requires their consent, on the other hand revocable beneficiaries are not part owner and they will receive the death benefit as “inheritance” which is subject to estate tax.
Mary Jane Santos – You have same name as my sister. Anyway we’re going to need to consider which school you would like your daughter to attend to compute for the tuition and for the miscellaneous we need to consider the “baon”, uniform (if any), school supplies, transpo, etc,. But if you don’t want to go through the computations and you already have an exact budget in mind like for example 2 million for your daughters college fund then we can use that as basis. That is a decent amount for most schools except for big schools like La Salle and Ateneo which needs around 4 million or higher for a 4 year course 12 years from now(18 is the average age a child goes into college). Considering average tuition fee increase of 12% per year and 4% per year inflation rate increase.

I am planning to get an insurance. I want something that also earns along the way. I have spoken to some agents in the past and they almost always insisted me to get a 4million insurance. This big amount means big primiums. This big premiums automatically discouraged me, and led me into thinking how much insurance do i really need? Any advise? Thank you 🙂
Im interested in getting a life insurance for me..I am 29 and would like to prepare for my retirement..I would love to know some of my options from different insurance companies. Kindly send me an enail at [email protected]

Hello everyone! This is Astrid of Sun Life Financial
I am a bit disturbed by what’s happening here as it is slowly looking like a “tiangge” for life insurance. Life insurance is not meant to be sold this way, it should be tailored-fit to an individual’s or a family’s needs. I understand that it’s more convenient to get sample proposals of different insurance companies and choose for yourself the best that you think but that way you may be overlooking some important facts or details of the plan. Please don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that you all are not smart enough to understand what insurance proposals contain but there might be some information or details that can be best understood when explained by an advisor personally than by just reading it.
Aside from risking misinterpretation of facts in the proposal let us also consider the role of the advisors. Maybe some of you may not be interested in the advisors and want to focus on the plan that you want to get but we financial advisors can be your good partner in achieving financial security and independence. It will be wise to meet with an advisor personally to know more about him or her and observe his or her work ethics and decide if he or she is someone you can put your trust into.
Another thing is the financial needs analysis which is also best done personally so there is interaction between client and advisor. It’s great to see that more and more people are now giving their money a purpose, like protecting their family’s lifestyle, education for children, and retirement planning. The next step to that is to know how much you need and when you need it. We have to be clear on our goals to avoid walking in the dark. There are people who get headaches when challenged by computations but it is necessary for proper financial planning and you just need to provide us with necessary information and we will do the computations for you. If we can’t determine the exact amount, an estimate will be very helpful just to give us an idea how much money is required to meet a certain goal. If you don’t want to trouble yourself with this part and you have your own way of determining your financial needs then we can also skip this part but please let us be clear on our proposal requests.
For example, a 30-year old man with a wife and 5 year old son. “I need life insurance for myself and my wife to protect our son’s education. Our son will be needing 2 million pesos worth of tuition fee for a 4-year course excluding miscellaneous. We need 2 million worth of protection so in case something happens to any of us our son’s education is secured. Thus we need 1 million insurance protection each and if in case nothing bad happens to us we need that 2 million fund completed and available to be withdrawn 13 years from now since our son is 18 by then and it’s about time he enters college.”
I’m sure everyone wants to get the best value for their hard earned money.

thanks.
Hi Mam. Julian,
I’m Roland Natividad Financial Advisor from Philam Life. If you have existing policy and designated beneficiaries and if they are irrevocable they have to inform that you going to put your daughter alone in the policy as beneficiary. Or if you mean that your going to purchase a policy and your going to put your daughter as beneficiary their’s no problem with that.

For all Valued Client looking for the best life insurance company here’s some tips to know the best life insurance company in the Philippines.
1st you have to know if they are just branch here or company based in the Philippines. If they are just branch here, think about it first because when times go wrong with the branch they can run away as faster as they can. But if the company has established offices here in the Philippines and not just a branch that company is really stable company. Specially if they are not renting in some establishement just to have an office.
2nd. What kind of awards so far they have for 2012?
3rd. The most important of all. You have to be keen when it comes to Financial Strenght of a Life Insurance Company. The stability of Life Insurance Company determined through Paid-up Capital, Investment, Network, Asset and Premium.
*Take note Premium may vary every year depends on the performance of a company.

and a trustworthy insurance company.
There is lot of insurance company that is now competing in our society. Even though Prudential life is not in the top insurance company in the Philippines’, the truth is they are making improvement to their company so they can serve Filipino people in a good way. PPLICis such a good and very interesting company and now an accessible and a trustworthy company in our country. They are awarded twice as SUPERBRAND status.

Hello there. I am Enrique Gil Valencia IV, a law graduate and a financial advisor of AXA Philippines. I am from Las Pinas. I joined AXA because I believe in its mission to secure families and help fulfill the dreams of more people towards a better future.
I am into educating our fellow citizens of the importance of life insurance in our lives.
If you think that you are in need of financial planning please do not hesitate to send me an email at [email protected] I will be very much happy to set an appointment with anyone who wants to know more about the value of life insurance.
Hello, I just recently got into thinking about life insurance. I’m 27 years old and I want to retire preferably before I hit 65 (assuming I do). I’d like to have medical protection, be able to save money, or invest in reliable, but good-performing market instruments. And, I would like to have the option of getting dividends from time to time. I’ve got a single mom who drifts in and out of jobs so sometimes she’s employed and sometimes she’s not. She’s 54 years old. She’s got philhealth and SSS, but I want to have something else that’ll give more peace of mind if she needs sufficient medical care in the near future. Is there any life insurance plan/ wealth building plan that fits best the scenarios above? Bottomline there is that I need sufficient medical coverage for my mom and retirement plan/ wealth building plan for me. Maybe I could consider bundling in enough medical coverage for me as well. But, is there any life insurance plan out there that’s close to giving me all these needs? I would appreciate any suggestion especially from seasoned financial advisors here. For all of you who wish to get in touch with me, please email me at [email protected] or [email protected]. Or, here’s my mobile number: 09996066222. Thanks. Bianca

Wala na akong tiwala sa mga insu insurance companies na yan!
wag kayo magpapaniwala dyan!
